Christina Dodd - Into The Flame

Publisher's:
"Brutally handsome cop Doug Black is Determined to find the birth family who left him with nothing but a terrifying inheritance: the ability to change into a savage golden cougar. His search leads him to a woman as dauntless and exotic as her name. Firebird Wilder is bitterly familiar with supernatural gifts, and flees on discovering his secret, leaving Doug alone once more. But no one can escape a wild cougar on the hunt. When he finds her, they both must decide Which is more powerful ... the love that binds them together ... or the secrets that threaten to tear them apart. "

The fourth and last part of the series about the" Chosen Darkness "is about Firebird, the supposed daughter of the family and the father of her illegitimate child, Doug Black, a police officer in search of his girlfriend. In the previous band was
already solved the great mystery of Firebirds and existential at the same time began the search for the lost son and at first happens in the book is not really much new. It will reveal a lot about Fire Birds studies, about the beginning of her pregnancy and about her discovery that there are other Varinskis are in America. Their flight is described and the behavior of their family. But then, suggests the mood in the book. A runner-up is discovered, but not taken prisoner. Firebird begins to wonder who they really trust during their studies and sets out in search of the father of her child. This in turn has
Firebird searched and when he finds out what, thanks to the magic of Firebirds mother is difficult, he finds a young woman who is apparently held captive by her family. You may only go to work and live otherwise withdrawn into the mountains. But before he can save his girlfriend from her family, Firebird comes to him and both are threatened by the Varinskis. There is a thrilling escape, a romantic night, and many explanations, but many more complications that are not revealed and secrets that no one betrays the other.
Finally comes the showdown in the mountains. The whole family is wild for the first time united and the final battle against the evil Varinskis near the end.

I can not describe the book properly. It is very intense, very fast and tense and the next moment obscure and I had the impression that the author has at some plot threads themselves lost track. At the same time towards the end of the book revealed things that will continue in another series of the author (Chosen Ones). I would have probably not even notice if I did not present the first volume of the series, but it struck me, because throughout the book series does not even talk to this special feature is, it confuses me a little.
The book begins with a relationship, which already had a beginning and an end, something I normally do not read. Couples who knew each other in love, separated, are simply not my world. Firebirds couple's relationship, however, has a dark secret and that has drawn me into the spell. Firebird is also very, very well described. I liked her in previous volumes, but in this she was still lively. Doug is a little cooler over, but in this he is like his brothers. Maybe it's just the author to describe the women's perspectives better.
surprising for me was the behavior of the other Wilders, as they get to know Doug. While were presented in the other books, the characters lively and warm (I did not want to even be adopted?), This first meeting dull and expressionless. For the fact that she has kept her son dead, the mother of the family is behaving strangely cool against Doug.
But the end, as is the entire plot in the book is very exciting and I just could not put it down. I probably have about some storylines not properly read or overlooked.
From this series I'd like to read more stories.

rating:
The best book in the series and despite circumstances that I read really do not like (the old couple's relationship), an absolutely stunning book.
10 out of 10
