Todd McCaffrey - Dragon's Blood

Read Time: 11:03:07 to 13:03:07

Todd McCaffrey - Dragon's Blood (Dragons Blood)

Synopsis of the publisher:
"Pern is facing the greatest challenge of his History:.. A mysterious disease has spread to the dragon and spreads like wildfire Only the young dragon rider Lorana can prevent the destruction of the planet succumbs But it is completely on your own ...."

Pern. Similar to Darkover, the planet and, above all, the book series about * g * a childhood love of mine, when I'm already looking forward to the moment where my son the first book in your hands (I probably bother him then infinitely .. shame .* *)
This volume, however, is different. He is the first book since about 8 years ago that I read from the series and it is the first book that is not the great writer Anne McCaffrey, but her son, Todd, has written. At first
deterred me from that fact. Too often I've been disappointed by such "copycat projects," but at the same time it was a dragon book and the I just had to read, for there is hardly a dragon series, which is anywhere near as awesome. Dragon's Blood is actually a bit different -. And at the same time as his predecessor
Although between the last Pern novel, and this still are a few books that I know of yet (but they are already in my stack order!), It includes in fact exactly the book to which I had read the last, namely, a book about the beginnings of Pern, the crash on the planet and the evolution of the dragon. In Dragon's blood often recur time flashbacks that fall squarely within this time and suddenly from an uninteresting, cool bitch * g * an interesting, sympathetic heroine who tries to their world (wind flower) and immature of one, but warm-hearted young woman is a strong-willed heroine, who sacrifices her love in order to prevent other damage (Lorana).
goes in the book is about two save women, a scientist whose existence has no basis more, a dragon rider and no dragon about how they respond to their world without ever.
But in the book is also about something else, the question of how the book can ever put aside to do so unimportant things such as eating or sleeping ?????

rating:
A terrific book will be well-done episode and even if it is not the original author is, yet it is absolutely addictive and when you come to the last page, the last line that reads last word, you have to swallow involuntarily - and find the next book!
10 out of 10 .

Publisher's:
Virginia in 1995: during a fox hunt, the lost broker Pryor Blackwood in the fog and gallops straight into the seventeenth century-where wait their colonial ancestors were already on it. The involuntary trip to the Vergangeheit turns out to be a pioneering adventure ... "

A time travel novel is always something special, I think. They are fun, entertaining, can be infinitely romantic (now the cozy fireplace is usually made of plastic so * g *) and they invite you to dream.
The story Cig (Pryor Blackwood) promised to meet all my expectations, even if Cig a little older and has almost grown children. She's just turned widow and tried to get her new life alone in the handle. At the same time she receives help from her sister, who is not as straightforward, as will convey to the beginning of the book, and just as all the drama and antics threaten to escalate, a magical fox into the Cig Past. As though he wanted to show her that all that it acts charged in the now compared to earlier times, only laughable.
this behavior I was reminded of my mother's sayings. When I came to her to tell me endlessly for my major problems was getting a "You call that bad?" There is a lot worse. " This knowledge has helped me and just as it never was made even Cig (I think). They met in the past to find your way, meets strangers with familiar faces, and seems to repeat their old mistakes and just when she realizes this, the fox leads them back again and suddenly she finds herself once again to their problems. But as before the beginning of the book, she solves it not, it does not consider a closer, but seems almost to float ... until she meets on the last pages of the book a wonderful man.
And just like my description ends the book. It is not very satisfactory, not very entertaining, and half the time I've counted the pages (did I mention that I hate to do that?).

Review:
1 point for the idea
1 point for the accuracy of the information
1 point for the credible characters
And I definitely do not re-read this book!

Sherrilyn Kenyon - Fantasy Lover

Inhaltsangabe laut Verlag:
"Dear Reader, Being trapped in a bedroom with a woman is a grand thing. Being trapped in hundreds of bedrooms over two thousand years isn't. And being cursed into a book as a love-slave for eternity can ruin even a Spartan warrior's day. As a love-slave, I know everything about women. How to touch them, how to savor them, and most of all, how to pleasure them. But when I was summoned to fulfill Grace Alexander's sexual fantasies, I found the first woman in history who saw me as a man with a tormented past. She alone bothered to take me out of the bedroom and into the world. She taught me to love again. "

I think the novel is the third I've ever finished reading in English. So far, I've always shied because I know that my English is bad, to properly delve into a story can. At the same time I was by the book in Liro forum raved and even the "light" English was recorded as positive.
I do not know if the English is easier than in other books of this type (K. Empire in English is definitely too heavy for me), but I understood the book, devoured and I am convinced that I shall buy more often in Books.
It is about Grace, who has Sexualthereutin though, problems with relationships with the opposite sex. They once had a friend with whom she has made more than a bad experience, so that makes a bow to other men. But Grace's birthday - and a friend who stands on the occult. So she gets paid a book in which "supposedly" hides a love slave, whom you must only call, so it appears. Drunk, stupid and the two girls do it and do not really expect much of it - until Julian, beautiful like a Greek god, and just as sexy, naked, Grace turns up in apartment and nothing else has in mind when Grace to make really happy. Only Grace will not be happy at least not in the way envisaged by the sex slaves, Julian. She wants to free him. By a curse that is 2000 years old, which is directly attributed to the Greek gods and Julian dominated completely.
The beginning of the book as well as the plot is unusual, I thought. He does play in our time, abducted at the same time in ancient Greece and Sparta. There appear several gods in the book, including Eros and Psyche (as a motorcycle gang * g *) and while I was reading through the summary still thought the couple would get stuck in the whole book on the bed, it was rather a completely different around. They were reluctant to "act" * gg * away so long, the I already believed in it, he liked to have read * lol *
The English style of writing it very much and I liked the descriptions, the author uses the

rating.
Easy to read English with an unusual plot and sympathetic hero. I'm going to get by with the author's other books (especially the series Dark Hunter !).
The only thing I have to criticize, but to me is the schmaltzy flower end. A happy ending in Liro is beautiful and very important, but because it was a little too much fat there.

Marion Zimmer Bradley - Zandrus forging

Marion Zimmer Bradley - Zandrus forge (Zandrus forge)

Publisher's:
"The distant world of Darkover in the Age of the Hundred Kingdoms: The fight against the lawless keeper Deslucido is over, the danger from him yet still not banned: Eduin His son lives and is obsessed with the idea to wipe the princely line of Hastur ... "

The book is the second volume of the series" The fire of Darkover "(vol.1 = Case of Neskaya) and this time it's all about a king and a mighty Laranzu, only this time the highly praised in all the books 'historical' figures Varzil the Good King and Carol make a contribution to history.
First, it is about the personal history of Varzil, son of a nobleman who thinks nothing of Laran and the towers. It quickly becomes clear that Varzil heard in a tower, but unfortunately the tower refuses to include him, just because the tower-keeper feared problems with the aristocratic Comyn. The rescue of his brother but can Varzils father take him and so Varzil encounters in the tower on Eduin, son of the villain from the first volume, and Carlo, the future King Carol. Between youthful dreams and serenity the course for the future will be added later Dark overs. To the Time still under the power of the particular prince / king standing towers declare their independence and a conniving usurper lies down on a keeper in the history of the most powerful Dark overs.
you to the book is that Romilly appears, the main character from the book "Lady of the hawks . I remember how I loved the book and did not want to put in the hands (as well as "Mistress of Storms " * g *) so I was thrilled when Romilly showed up again and I part of the story of a different perspective could read.
Unfortunately, I was in that I remember so well from Romilly (despite the 20 years!) recognize also how very different style of writing by Deborah J. Ross to that of MZB. Unlike other Darkover novels I've read many pages in the book only superficially or equal to roll over. The only hinted love story between a tear and Felicia Varzil not and even if MCB has rarely written a romantic love story, but she has missed at least Couples continues drawing its charm, that one hopes for the couple. In Varzil and Felicia I was just hoping that the drama is almost over ...* sigh *

rating:
are a result of the other writing style, but now I noticed, and other processing of the issue "Darkover" it from me this time only a few points, the third volume (is already in the SUB), but I will still read yet!

Marion Zimmer Bradley - The Fall of Neskaya (The Fall of Neskaya)

Synopsis of the publisher:
"Dark Over in the Age of the Hundred Kingdoms. The royal houses are in endless feuds involved and to fight each other using Laran, the magical Psi-force When the young Corin, a talented Laran fighters, is under the influence of the insidious Rumail, he has no idea by the dangerous Plans: A injected into his subconscious secret command is to lead to the demise of Hastur dynasty. But Corin remains steadfast, not least the love of a princess of the house Hastur ... "

I'm in the library and stumbled on the band was at first annoyed that (again) published a final book of MZB. I think, appear from MZB, like no other writer before her, more books under their death than before ... * sigh *
But for some reason spoke to me the book. I took with me and was immediately in Darkover. It is all known, while new because it is chronologically the first volumes of the saga . I could name and some recognize characters, others were strange and exciting.
The book is written primarily from a friend MZB's and the first moment it seems, as a reader that would do the style of an abortion. I can now, after 20 years no longer judge. But I can say that the book has as much charm and fascinates the reader, like other Darkover books.
The characters seem Queen Taniquel and Corin, who Laranzu, authentic and one is suffering with them. A beautiful book whose only fault is that it may sometimes lengthy recounts.

Too much has swept me their story. Fantastic says. a lot better than the second volume of the author and certainly a book I would read very often. One of the best novels I have ever read and I'm looking forward to the appearance of the third volume (Remember: The Volumes are not connected with each other)

Marion Zimmer Bradley - The time of the 100 kingdoms

Marion Zimmer Bradley: The time of the 100 Kingdoms (Two to Conquer)

Synopsis of the publisher:
"stage of history is the small kingdom of Asturias, the Lord General, Bard Di Asturien, called the Wolf, the country will unite under his rule A. other visionary Varzil preserver of Neskaya, called the Good has taken on the task, also a unit of kingdoms to create. His agent is not the violence, but a treaty banning the use of arms, prepared with matrix technology. Both determine the fate this time, which specifies the end of the age of chaos and the foundations for a new darkovanische Society

I want the book on my shelf and in the course of my Darkover -. Reread Projects was dusted it and edited four whole days of me eagerly.
The focus of the story is Bart Di Asturien who is beginning a stupid, inexperienced boy and in the course of action to a figure at which I am not sure whether I they like it or not. He injustices done and it is premature to he has the urge to play in the foreground and others near him did not exercise. An unpleasant man, but is also somehow a victim of his environment. His father, who before his second wife's sake, had sent away animates him in a war against Hastur draw. Which side are the good or evil is to secure the date in my eyes (and beard is definitely on the wrong side!). Bart's father also takes the same time, its identical twin on Darkover, a criminal who had just been frozen first to last. He is also unrestrained and without regard to others. The plot seems predictable, and too bold for my taste.
I had to force myself to really read the book a second time and I remember that I did not like even the first time. The end compensates a bit for the surprise but very loose plot, but it does not save the book.

Cecelia Ahern - Where Rainbows

Cecelia Ahern - Where Rainbows (Where rainbows ends)

Publisher's:
"Rosie and Alex have known each other since they are five years old Alex. draw immediately before each Abi with his parents from Ireland to America. Rosie will meet and study hotel management, but it will pregnant. And not Alex. She drives her daughter alone is great, Alex marries an American. Only years later he is single again - but now is married to Rosie ... "

I had heard much of the author and several times I tried one of their books from the library to carry, but they were always sold out so was. I am curious and inquisitive, and finally quite happy when at last a book was available.
"Where Rainbows End" is a book that was not written as a continuous story, but more like a report from e-mails, letters, chat conversations and composed of short notes.
was at first this irritating, especially because the book begins, as the two main charas were five years old, but then this kind of narrative is fast, funny and entertaining. Too often recognize themselves in the written word again, may shake their heads or laugh loudly. In the middle of the book but the style is boring and the novelty fades, even now in the quieter paths run relationship of the couple (which is not together, but only best friends * g *) reflects that. One has to be impatient reader (which I am absolutely not for nothing I always read the end first!) Actually pull together to read more. But towards the end, if requested by an extent and also by the action her feel, is that a terminal point is reached, the tie to start a mail again. I especially found
that the story of the couple Rosie and Alex begins and ends with five years of fifty years and the happy ending. The reader can follow how the children are born, how they grow up, what developments they participate, while at the same time to the couple shakes * g * This is what I love about stories!

rating:
The style of writing I liked a lot. The way to write a whole book in this note style, was used to and would have made for a shorter work certainly more fun. The couple lived at the end of a happy ending (which I also had hoped) and I was right in the middle shed a few, minor tears. Everything together makes the book a great reading experience, I would also recommend and what makes me curious about the first volume the author makes.

I had read the book only last year, but I felt like it again" enjoy "and I was right. I like the MacGregors as fictional characters of N. Roberts almost as much as the Quinns, though I also think that in the MacGregor's all too perfect. The men are fascinating, eloquent, impressive figures with exciting careers and the women are real beauty queens, the only problem is that they do not know. This is read the second time a band a bit ugly, because it annoys rapidly, yet the stories themselves are so lovingly drawn in that the book still does not want to put it down (but compared to the first reading, you have this time a lot of time * gg *).
Of the three men like me at least Duncan, which is strange because I have the story of his Parents have very liked. DC is just plain funny and charming and Ian begnadenswert unaware

Vulvar Varicose Veins Can I Wax?

Marion Zimmer Bradley - Landing on Darkover

Reading Time: 6:01:07 to 8:01:07 (re-read, although you can actually say that after 20 years yet?)

Marion Zimmer Bradley - Landing on Darkover (Darkover Landfall)

Publisher's:
"A Terran space ship from a devastating Gravitätssturm captured and thrown thousands of light years away in an unexplored part of the galaxy. During the emergency landing, the ship is so badly damaged that the crew's only option: you must fight for survival on this mysterious planet in the blood-red sun - a planet that their descendants will one day call Darkover "

!
I do not know what volume of the Darkover series I enjoyed reading first. It is clear that I came through the detour "Mists of Avalon" to the author, and even then had a very well-equipped library in my area. There there was almost every title Series and those who did not have it, I bought (which is probably the only explanation that I do not own all the books ...)
is certain is that I have loved the series then and they always fascinated me and has inspired. Marion Zimmer Bradley was my absolute idol then (and I was years later, really disappointed, as I had read that it was not so open-minded and tolerant, as I always thought!).
the show about it to strangers, to otherness, of intrigue, love and the family, the family of ordinary people and the family of humanity in general. Darkover is a planet on the Psi-powers are effective. They rule people, how people master the forces. It is sometimes easy and sometimes too heavy for one person. At the same time the planet is poor, because the civilization has not the ways in which they are on the earth as available. It can not be supported metal, the environmental conditions are incredibly hard, and survival becomes a real adventure.
All of this, the reader when he reads more books in the series, but as the adventure begins, one can in the (subsequently written ) read the first volume of the saga. I love those books introduction! And "Dark landing on Over" is this in every way. It is even now, after 20 determines Years, fascinating to read in which appears certain, familiar with the importance they have and which side they stand. Reading the first adventure of the new settlers, as you hear the story of his own family (which is very strange, but nice, too). We know as a reader, what will happen and the importance of certain things or objects have to be while you can smile almost wistfully.
A fantastic book with a beautiful story that fascinates me even years later and which I'm already wondering how my son will find them again.

Mucus In Stool, Sharp Pain

Margaret Weis - The Forbidden Land 2

Read Time: 18:01:07 - 01/25/2007

Margaret Weis - The Forbidden Land 2 (Dragon Son) (The Dragonvarld Trilogy 2: The Dragon's Son)

Publisher's:
"Marcus and Ven are twins who know nothing of each other and very different fathers. Marcus is human and magically gifted, while Ven from the waist down is a dragon. One day brings Ven's father, the brothers together

A magnificent world full of magical forces, strong heroes and fearsome dragon! "

I had last summer the first part of the story rather by chance found in the library and from then on the appearance of second volume lurking, just as I am now waiting for the third volume ...
It's about dragons and humans, but can the dragons in M. Weis assume human form books and travel undetected by the human cities. Intregieren you like people and they make mistakes. But they are not immortal, but rather the world so indifferent to the set that she slept through part of centuries in some cave. This behavior use the kites that people are not indifferent, of course. So it happens that, in the first part, a dragon is a valley located off under his rule brings. He enslaved the people and teaching them in perpetual fear to live before the dragon. Each dragon that they would come to the aid is therefore opposed by the people over and fiercest. At the same time pursuing the dragon's plan man and magic dragon magic to unite by children can testify, who have dragon blood in them. But the children that arise in this way, are not like normal people, but rather retarded, scary creatures. Only a woman is able to have a child that holds the advantages of both sides in itself, the dragon son. He comes from a rape by an "evil" dragon man. In the same period, the woman in love but in a young king, and they get twins, a son of the dragon, one son of the king. When she dies, the children are placed in different directions, which is a child raised as a prince, the other relatively unkind and neglected in the forest of a warrior. As a skilled reader
* g * can be seen at once that this combination poses difficulties. The neglected child must inevitably be linked to long for "more", the pampered prince can not see any real dangers, and between the two seem always a main character from the first volume, the "good" dragon man Drakonas, the desperate attempts for the worst to prevent. But as in the first band he is also in the second only a peripheral figure, too often superficial Decisions will be pushed aside. Instead of worrying about the children or at least to the neglected, it can happen some that ultimately helps the "evil" dragon. Both boys are as young men in the realm of dragons, where they are confronted with a woman (future main character?), The devious, underhanded, and just simply is not possible (I would have love to have some dragons thrown to!). The prince is too naive to realize their true colors. The Dragon son knows, however, as it really is, but it would still love to deceive and eventually even before his own death to her and his brother to allow escape.
The dragon's son, who is also the title of this volume is the more interesting character in the book. His brother is just too good, too perfect and too little "tortured" or truly tested. For him, life is the search for a heroic deed, death or wrongly, there is not any way for him. Dragon's son, however, has suffered and lost a loved one, he was deceived and left him uncertain and yet it is not broken it, but still seems unclear. In these volumes it can always be the villain or the hero. The entire development is still pending and as yet because I thought he died, I was really sad because he is a sympathetic character. Therefore, "disturbs" me the book is that the end revolves around the king's son. He succeeds as a brave hero, the "virgin" to save, while his brother "sacrifices" and the prince will take the young woman home with her and take care of them honorably. In short: he is bored!
The dragon's son, however, is disappeared on the last pages. There appear once again to his thoughts, it becomes clear that his death was just played and yet he seems to have "forgotten" to the author. When he would not be the title of this volume. I would have wished that they had granted him a glorious happy ending, some clever, cynical last sentences of the book or the like. But perhaps it builds its story in the next volume to continue? I hope so ...

rating:
A fantasy novel about dragons alone earned almost a perfect score * gg * The writing style of the author is very good, and not even entertaining at times lengthy, the charas are convincingly portrayed and the plot is exciting. Only the "open" end to the dragon's son and the survival of the bitch disturb me and that's why ...

Nora Roberts - Bank of hope

Read Time: 16:01:07 to 20:01:07 (Re-read)

Nora Roberts - The Land of Hope (Chesapeake Blue)

Publisher's:
"From the anxious boy Seth Quinn has become a successful painter, but the shadows of the past give him a rest home, with his family, he hopes to find peace, the beautiful Drusilla fighting against their own.. demons, but together they have a hope of love and Seth ... "

I knew the fourth volume in the saga of the family Quinn already, but when I saw standing around the book in the library, I remembered that just such family history could be read very beautiful and the book landed on a reread in my pocket.
I was not disappointed. The plot is, like all romances, easy. It is anticipated no great intellectual power of the reader, but there are differences in books of this genre. Nora Roberts manages to sensitive, but not boring, humorous, but not clichéd to develop a predictable love story between its protagonists. You just want to read on, as it is with the couple and that's the main reason why her trilogy and legends are so successful precisely because it meets again in each episode band beloved characters and can pursue their lives.
Just as it is for the Quinns. Man "meets" friends from the previous parts again, learns that they have children see how grown their relationship has deepened, and you can feel how much passion the author puts into their work.

no different, the story of Seth from their predecessors. He also suffers from inner and outer demons, fallen in love, having fun, and - as every character in Robert's books - a successful and promising future ahead. But Seth has a dark past, a dark point that charged him and let him do wrong. Seth could be lonely, a tortured soul who is abandoned by all, but it's not because he of this great family around him and has the same love his soulmate learn.
The only real point of criticizing the book is the actress who is remarkably so pale. Usually the women in novels by the author are particularly strong, beautiful, life-affirming. Drusilla other hand, looks almost too calmly and quietly, even lovable, but somehow distant. I do not know why this is, but it bothered me.

rating:
A simple, well thought-out plot, written lovingly I will certainly read it one more time (in a year or two ...* gg *) and recommend it for sure too.!

Kathy Reichs - believed dead live longer (cross bones)

Synopsis of the publisher:
"The body of an Orthodox Jewish importer from Montreal brought Dr. Temperance Brennan overtime in the laboratory, the gunshot wound. head points to suicide, but for the forensic anthropologist is a heinous crime is not excluded. Tempes investigation takes an unexpected turn when a stranger slipped her the photo of an ancient skeleton and insists that it is the key to the death of the man. Before they to know it, it hits an inscrutable mystery that is older than the Bible. It could be the cornerstone of Jewish and Christian history shake. "

The summary I would normally put off. faith stories and supposedly groundbreaking secrets have never really been a topic that interested me. But I'm an" author-collector "and I've also on the book by K. Reichs overthrown and comparatively read quickly.
The story is in fact two plots. Once the order to the killed importer, and once the vanished a Skeleltt. The import your received the skeleton divided by a friend and brought it in another friend at. Tempe is the skeleton on the track and was eventually even the mysterious bones. At the same time died the friend, who had previously owned the skeleton. Now she has on only two deaths and a few bones and the extradition order from Israel. She grabs that is, the old bones, and goes on a search for the identity of the dead.
predict how soon comes to suspect that it is the dead by Jesus. This part of the plot would have deterred more than anything before. Are there mysterious dead bodies or bones in Israel it is apparently in nine out of ten cases to Jesus * sigh * And also foreseen the elaborate research, which was run by the author. This is one of the points that really fascinates me to their books. In the midst of reading I am often tempted to get up and on the Internet to look up whether this or that detail really true. I have fond memories of a book in which she writes of a rare species of parrot. At that time I have looked on the net and found exactly the same information. It is fascinating to read how they packed know, I think it's fun and easy to read Unterhaltunslektüre while still a little "educated" to be there.
In this volume she has also kept. Again, the protagonist learns of an event in Tempe Masala and its historical significance. I think the way Tempe finds out different, no different from the other books, but it gave me this time not under the fingers were itching to consult, on the contrary, I have to scroll to the part quickly.
The couple's relationship from Tempe and Ryan will be in the book intersiver the same time be superficial. The couple has found himself as such, they are fond of habits developed, special features, such as the bird he has given her for Christmas. Sometimes I like to read it in the course of several books, as there are couples and the relationship has stabilized. In K. Reich, it has not pleased me. The couple stayed at "flat" and uninteresting. Tempe otherwise lacked so eloquently witty thoughts.
remains to the end of the book. Unlike other authors K. Reich invents no reinterpretation the story and invites the reader not to speculate. With the end of history, the identity of the bone is not important.
I liked not the end, therefore. I would have liked to have a resolution that has heard a statement to which family the deceased or wherever you put the bones. Thus the book is somehow open to me at the end, and that sucks huge and good for the reading enjoyment of a big crash.

rating:
I would describe the book as an empire-typical, but not recommended. It is - in my eyes - one of its worse if not the worst and I hope this was only a short break.
