Yatsuhashi (Japanese 八ツ橋) or The Legend, which did not come from me.

once brought my friend from Japan is a very strange candy, the Nama-Yatsuhashi means. It is a Japanese specialty of the region, Kinki (Japanese 近畿). There are so to say, "Sweet Leaves "made of rice flour with sugar and cinnamon. Yatsu (八 ツ) means "eight" and hashi (桥) is the bridge. The non-edible Yatsuhashi actually be taken in any Japanese garden:

These bridges symbolize Buddhism in life with its difficulties and the Noble Eightfold Path. For the first time Yatsuhashi was mentioned in the collection "History of Ise" (Japanese: 伊 势 物语 Ise monogatari) of the Heian period (794-1192). . My friend (Kitya Karlson ( http://kitya.livejournal.com told) me a legend in this collection

A long time ago there lived a family. A mother, a father and two sons as the father died, the mother had to work very hard. Their work was very far away from home, so that the mother had to leave very early and very late back. The children longed for their mother very, very the younger son, who wept bitterly?

- Where is our mother why she is not with us

One day the elder son could no longer control himself and said

- we want to go and look for our mother!

They left the house and went in search of her mother. Later, a strong blocking flow their way. The children tried to wade through it, but the river rose and drowned the brothers.

The mother came home from work and found her dead children. Dejected, she decided to become a nun. But they found no mental rest and constantly mourned for her children.

One night the old monk in her dream and said that he knew a way to help her,

- Go early in the morning to the river, where your children have drowned.

Wait there for a happy ending.

the early morning the woman came to a river. Upstream from someone floated the forgotten wooden boards. The woman took it and built on these boards a small wooden bridge. There were eight small bridge elements that helped to cross the River. End.

Yes, sometimes it happens that the absence of the happy ending is also a kind of happy ending ... The philosophical happy ending.
